Zell Heard Georgia Singing

U.S. Senator Zell Miller wrote a great book on Georgia Music entitled They Heard Georgia Singing. The book features brief biographical sketches of the many artists who were either born in Georgia or made Georgia their home.

The Midwest Book Review has this to say about Zell's book:

"Georgia's list of famous musicians and their styles ranges from gospel and opera to country and folk singers, conductors, and others. Miller's blend of Georgia musical history and pioneering Georgians' biographies presents an involving coverage of the state's musical heritage and its long-time involvement in music making. This regional title holds the ability to attract attention well beyond Georgia's borders: any interested in the evolution of musicians in the South will find this intriguing."
